Ronnie O’Sullivan V Robbie Williams 4 – 0 Highest Break 122 – O’Sullivan (Frame 2)

Frame 1 – Robbie Williams broke off and the opener began with a safety battle, it was not long until Ronnie potted the first red, Williams was unlucky to have left over the middle pocket. Early on in the break, he had excellent control of the cue-ball. With the break on 56 within 5 minutes, he played a cannon but white stuck onto a red and he was forced into playing safe. O’Sullivan potted a brilliant red from distance but was unfortunate for the cue-ball to go in off. Williams played a decent safety shot but O’Sullivan potted another fantastic long red and he was in again, made a break of 18 and Williams conceded.

Frame 2 – Williams started off with potting a cracking long red, potted the black ran out of position and played safe. O’Sullivan unusually fouled by missed a red while playing safe, then Williams potted a brilliant plant, but missed an easy pink into the middle which proved costly and very quickly the frame was over as The Rocket made his 1, 088th career century with a break of 122 with ease. O’Sullivan as usual looking unbeatable. Within 20 minutes he was 2 – 0 up.

Frame 3 – ‘Call the police, he’s missed one’ as John Virgo would say, O’Sullivan unusually missed a long red by a long way and Williams stepped in as he set about making a sizeable lead in the hope to win his first frame, but on a break of 22 he missed a red. O’Sullivan missed a red into the green pocket. There were 9 reds behind the black as O’Sullivan trailed 22 – 0. Williams risked trying to pot a difficult long red, he did not get it and O’Sullivan was at it again, he picked off the reds near the black spot and with only using the pink, made a break of 66. The scores were 66 – 22 to O’Sullivan, after Williams potted the black, he played a bad safety, O’Sullivan missed a cut into the yellow pocket. Allowing Williams in but only to make an 11 break, he had a great opportunity to put in a snooker but played it wrong, O’Sullivan messed up the safety and after Williams potted a pressure pink into the middle pocket, but could not convert the chance as he missed the final green. O’Sullivan cleared the green, brown, and blue to lead 3 – 0, the writing was on the wall for Williams as O’Sullivan went one frame away from the 2nd round.

Frame 4 – Williams played a safety shot way too thick and O’Sullivan punished him by potting a long red but failed to get position on the black as Williams breathed a sigh of relief, O’Sullivan played safe. Williams played another weak safety shot but was fortunate not to O’Sullivan a pot. Williams missed another red and this O’Sullivan was back in and this time he took full advantage. In no time at all, he made a 73 and that was that. The 77th ranked Robbie Williams did not really stand a chance. He was blitzed and whitewashed in 46 minutes.
