Williams (14)

Ford        (27)

H2H: 9-1 Williams

Frame1: Mark starts off with some very good pots, builds a break of 70 and grabs the early lead in the match.. 1-0 Williams

Frame2: Again, Mark starts out strong, compiling a 60 break but missed an easy red . Tom made his first pots and replied with 35, and laid a tough snooker. He gained some additional foul points, but missed a green he should have potted, which allowed Williams to clear the remaining colours and win frame 2. 2-0 Williams.

Frame3: With Mark showing strong form and making pots with the rest in the air, he makes a break of 67. Tom has a chance, but makes a measly 26, and Mark the locks up the frame. 108-26, 3-0  advantage as well.

Frame4: Tom starts off with some good pots to gain the early edge. Mark gets a chance in the balls before breaking down on 36. The frame becomes a bit scrappy, and at 51-35 Williams screws in off on the black to which Tom laid a snooker on the green. Tom gained 4pts, but made great pots on brown, blue, pink, to salvage the frame and a 3-1 match line.

Frame 5: After the interval, Tom gets to work, makes a very impressive 3 ball plant, opens up the table and compiles a 91, and a consession from Mark.

3-2 Williams

Frame 6: Williams responded quickly making an 86 break, in which Ford conceded, and Williams a 4-2 edge.

Frame7: This frame was the scrappiest of the match, with each player compiling small scoring points. Ford gained a 65-11 edge with 51 on before Tom potted a good long red, and the frame was his. 4-3 Williams.

Frame 8: With his unorthodox break off Mark gets frame 8 going with some safety. He does get first bite but ends on 19. Tom gets an opportunity when Mark fails to swerve and pot a red over left corner pocket, which in turn gives Tom a chance to force a decider. He puts together a string of pots , but on 33 misses a blue , and leaves the match at Marks mercy. But shockingly he missed the initial easy red , Tom steps up and makes an easy 28 to force another decider in the QF.., 4-4

Frame 9: Mark opens with a 24-0 before Tom replies with 35. Unfortunately Tom placed the cue ball behind the pink basically snookering himself on the remaining reds. Mark was then presented with chance for the match, he made more than enough , 72-35 , to win and advance to face Ronnie O’Sullivan in tomorrow’s SF.
