Joe Perry v Chang Bingyu - 4 - 3
Highest Break 90 - Bingyu (Frame 5)
Joe raced into 3 - 0 lead and looked comfortable, he should
have had a century in frame 2 but missed a blue on 61 and in frame 3 but ran
into trouble on 56. Chang was missing relatively easy reds, and was making a lot of
mistakes with safety play and was looking at a whitewash, but in frames 4 &
5 the tide started to turn, Chang had cut out a lot of errors was the much
better player and Joe was now making the errors, Chang made his highest break
of the match with 90. Frame 6 was a scrappy affair, with Chang leading 26 – 0,
all the reds were bunched up on the back cushion. Chang forced Perry into
another mistake and started to pick out and pot some reds. With a 57-point
lead, Joe potted a red but missed the black into the middle and conceded the
frame with 3 reds left on the table. The match had looked to be over within 1 hour,
but Chang had worked hard to bring the match to a 7th and deciding
frame, after a bit of a safety battle, Joe potted the first red a long pot into
the green pocket made a break of 19 and broke down after running out of
position on the next red, Chang fouled but did not cost him any more damage
then 4 points. Chang missed a red, the red smashed into the pack and opened a
chance up for Joe, Perry went onto to make a break of 61 to win 4 - 3.
