Featured Match - 

Selby came in as heavy favourite to advance past Pinches, and did so in convincing fashion.


Frame 1, Mark opened with some solid pots, and made a 74 break to lock up the first.


Frame 2, Mark continues his confident long potting to gain opportunity. He quickly bags 5-5 blacks for 40. On 49, Selby makes a great split on the pack, leaving a real opportunity for a sizeable break, even 147. Mark continued making good solid positional shots, and on 105, makes a great black to develop the second last red,and continue towards a max. He gets to 120 and colours spotted, and what looks to be a 147 formality. But, on the blue to pink, mark plays the worst shot of the break, leaving a potable but tricky pink to left middle. And to great surprise, a bad miss, break ends at 134, and 2-0 lead.  (Video above)

 

Frame 3,it starts out scrappy, lots of reds no colours potted. So low scoring, and Selby shows he can fight it out in these dog fight frames, 49-34 ahead and lays a great snooker on the green. Pinches escapes, and lays one himself. Selby hit green but leaves chance, and Barry clears 25 to steal frame 3


Frame 4, Selby seemed strong after losing a fight frame, and bagged a 109 clearance to move within a frame of victory 


Frame 5, again Selby gets advantage, no breaks as such and at 49-29 pots a great yellow to green to place Barry in snookers required.  Barry fails to gain, Selby through to round 2 on Thursday.


No surprises really other than the missed 147 attempt, and over all strong showing.

Wednesday Afternoon Featured Match – Ronnie O’Sullivan v Jimmy White 4 – 0  Highest Break 70 – O’Sullivan (Frame 3) Jimmy White broke off this classic encounter. White refused a pot on the red with his second shot. O’Sullivan missed a long red, White attempted a long pot that he missed. O’Sullivan missed a thin clip on the red and gave away a 4-point foul. O’Sullivan potted the first red and missed a blue into the yellow pocket. On a break of 16, White missed a straight red to middle. After some safety play, White attempted a cut on a red into the right bottom pocket, which he missed but was lucky that the cue-ball ended up within the pack, forcing O’Sullivan to play safe. White made a mistake with his safety and left Ronnie a red which he cleared but he surprisingly ran out of position and had to play safe of the green. The scores were 43 – 16 to O’Sullivan. Sunday 21st February Featured Match -  Report Written By Graeme Drayton from The 15 Red Podcast team  Match Stats From The Opening Session Pot Success: -  O'Sullivan 92% - Brown 90% Long Pot Success: - O'Sullivan 64% - Brown 53% Safety Success: - O'Sullivan 79% - Brown 92% Total Points: -  O'Sullivan 420 - Brown 450 The average shot times: - O'Sullivan 18 Secs - Brown 21 Secs The average frame time was 16 minutes. Score From Afternoon Session O'Sullivan 3 - Brown 5 Brown broke off frame 9. After a few good safety shots were played. Brown made a mistake, as the cue-ball was travelling back to baulk, it hit the blue full ball, which gifted O'Sullivan an early chance. Wednesday Morning Featured Match (2) - Report Written By Graeme Drayton from The 15 Red Podcast team  Pang Junxu v Ding Junhui 4 – 2  Highest Break 84 – Junxu (Frame 3) Frame 1, Ding Junhui started off well with a break of 70 and should have had a century but missed a relatively easy red. Pang came to table needing one snooker + a free ball. During his break he potted the blue which meant he was 56 behind and needing more snookers. With the scores at 70 – 29 he potted the last red and tried to lay a snooker behind the yellow, ding escaped, Junxu potted the yellow and then tried to get a snooker in behind the brown on the green. Ding played a snooker behind the blue, Pang hit the brown and with the scores now 74 – 32, Pang was 42 behind with 25 on and needing 5 snookers. Ding failed to escape from one snooker, no free ball called. Ding laid yet another Snooker in attempt to close the frame out, but Pang hit the green. Eventually Ding potted green and Pang conceded.
